  1. they of course plan to take legal action against those responsible for dumping the sewage on council pro… oh yea, water companies have higher social status than a council, and thats what the courts enforce.

  2. Im sure Ofwat take it very seriously afterall how else well they have an excuse to discuss such matters over dinner in luxury restaurants out of work time. All while never actually enforcing anything or coming down hard on the destruction of the literal life blood of our country

  3. This is terrible. Just shows how toxic sewage water is with all those chemicals mixed into it. Water companies should be held legally responsible for the environmental cleanup and pay heavy penalties. Wishful thinking, I suppose. This country is so backwards now.

  4. >One of United Utilities’ pipes spilled sewage into the River Ellen, near the Lake District, for nearly 7,000 hours in 2022.

There are only 8760 hours in a year.

I propose water company bosses can get their big fat bonuses only after they drink a litre of water from the worst polluted waterway their company contaminates, having waived all rights to any medical care required as a consequence of drinking it. How are they not ashamed of themselves.

  5. Wouldn’t this eventually become a moat? New woodlands can also be swampy and be natural.

  6. Water is the most precious thing on this planet – without clear drinking water we would die within a few days.

We as a society, have allowed a culture of ‘profit above all else’ to take root in all aspects of our lives, and now water companies are polluting all our seas, streams, lakes and rivers as it is cheaper to do this than build the infrastructure necessary.

Let’s take down the water companies, but until we change our culture and prioritise health, wellbeing, the environment, and each other, this sort of stuff will continue to happen.

  7. The UK has gone from green and pleasant to brown and littered in recent years. It is disgusting but the government allows it and people do not care enough to protest over it. It is not just our children’s future we are talking about here, it is all of our futures and it will only get worse if we choose to do little more than complain when stories like this appear on the news.
