Good, but the punishment should be longer given how many times he has done similar.
A rich twat who thinks because he’s rich, the law doesn’t apply to him.

“In 1998 the farmer piled rubble against the riverbank claiming it was some sort of flood barrier
In August 1999 he removed about 10 tonnes of gravel from the river without consent
In July 2007 he was prosecuted for creating a dam across a tributary in order to irrigate his potato crop, drying up the river for 1.5km downstream
In November 2018, Mr Price reprofiled the river at Oxpasture and created flood embankments using material he had scraped from the river
In July 2020 Mr Price was warned about planting crops right up to the riverbank and failing to observe a buffer zone”

What an absolute cunt of a man. In cases like this, I’d fully support the government stripping his land from him and giving it to a farmer who isn’t a bellend.

Also–surely the building firm he hired should also face some punishment. Surely they should be checking that he has the correct permissions before undertaking such work and clearly didn’t do so.
But our water companies and MPs allow raw sewage to be pumped into our ocean, and nothing happens to them?
All of his land should be confiscated, and given to wildlife trust, he should never be allowed to own land again, far too many land custodians destroy , there has to be serious repercussions to protect the land.
Just as someone guilty of animal cruelty is banned from keeping animals, he should be banned from owning farm land and operating as a farmer.
This is why land isn’t safe in the hands of private landowners. The idea that this ancient island should be parcled up and held as individual estates only interested in turning it to some “use” or “profit” is absurd, and one of the biggest obstacles holding back attempts to preserve and restore our unique wild habitats. Only last year, some octogenarian estate owner near me in the Gower ripped up several acres of rare temperature rainforest unique to the UK. This guy will likely have copped it before the damage he has done will be close to restored.
Oh man, this is heartbreaking. I used to fish the Lugg not far from his land. It’s an utterly unique and uniquely beautiful river.
It’s not about the money, it’s about sending a message.
Seize his property and turn it into a natural reserve.
The guy’s history clearly shows he will do it again.
Just confiscate his land.
Countryside is that thin line between ‘we are closer to the wonders of nature’ and trying to disrupt and destroy parts of nature
He should of got alot longer, for the damage that he has done.
This guy is clearly unfit to own land, 20 years he has been doing this… 20 years. He has had multiple opportunities to not destroy habitat (it’s not hard to not do something), and failed. Take his land he clearly can’t be trusted with it.
Has anyone thought about repopulating that River with beavers. They would do a far better job of managing the water ways than any of our authorities, for a start they would turn up to work everyday without trying to privatise our profits.
How long until factory farms are taken to court for the same thing? Animal agriculture is a horrific polluter of the land, air and waters of the UK to an insane degree, yet they can get away with it under the argument that they produce food. That land could be repurposed for crop farming, which is far less polluting, however subsidies on animal products, rather than a green tax, only encourage the industry to continue on.

I noticed it was also on today’s [front page of the Torygraph](https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/B179/production/_129433454_dailytelegraph-nc.png.webp) too, but they’re going with “save village from flooding” angle.
