The Italian government just lost a crucial House vote on a budget motion because the MPs of the ruling majority “did not understand” how many of them had to be present and actually vote the motion.
I’m just an ordinary guy so take this with a grain of salt.
It’s your job to be there, EVERYONE should be there. You’re a public servant, epected by THE PEOPLE. If you don’t want your job, give it to someone else.

They had to justify the lack of a majority as a mistake, because the alternative is that those MPs voluntarily boycotted the vote. Which isn’t necessarily to rule out given that more than two thirds of them are from junior partners in the coalition, and this could be a perfect Italian-style warning to their partner that something is not working for them.
