Remember when RTÉ 2 was called RTÉ 2? People who remember that are the real OGs.
I remember when there wasn’t a Network 2.
I remember when we did not have an RTE 2 only RTE 1 and we are talking 1973….
I just remember the title inserts for Network 2 being all edgy and being disappointed when it changed to RTÉ 2 and was clearly not aimed at the young’uns anymore
Never watch it bar the Football. I never noticed it had changed tbh.
And a young, enthusiastic, fresh faced Ray D’Arcy hosted Joe Maxi, a cool show for cool teens who wore denim jackets and stonewashed 501’s
I remember when there was only RTE 1 and the ads were non moving pictures of the products with dodgey voice overs
Remember continuity presenters between each show telling you about what was coming up later that evening and a brief synopsis of the next show coming up. Think John Slattery was on Network 2 a lot doing that back in the day.
Maurice Pratt and the quinnworth adverts were one of the first home produce video adverts… Cerca 1983 or at least when I returned to Ireland after an over seasstint.
Yes
I assume this is a Northerner, RTE1/2 on channels 6/7.
I remember when the repeaters on Claremont Carn turned off at night.
They called it Network 2 as some faux appearance of being a different network to RTE 1.
I remember when it was all fields
When did it change? Just realised I don’t think I’ve watched it since…2003…fuck me
Remember when you had to get your homework done in time for RTE 2 to start for the day. Not start a specific cartoon (e.g. Ghostbusters). Not start children’s programmes. Just START! Because the only other thing on TV was Telma Mansfield and Derek Davis.
Remember Nighthawks around the same time.
Mad show, a weird mix of chat show, standup comedy, sitcom? Dunno what else. Thought it was brilliant at the time, dunno what it’d be like if I saw re-runs of it.
I only remembered yesterday when I was telling my son you Could stick a coat hanger into thr back of a TV and pick up the RTEs. Seems mad now with all the netflixs and what not.
