The other day I was walking through my local town centre. There was a lady handing out fake money with Charles’ face on it, saying the words “something to celebrate the king” this was done right in front of a homeless person sat in their sleeping bag.

All part of the Tory plan. Nobody is surprised tbh.
With the extreme weather in the summer and winter, I’m surprised it was not more. Climate change is going to hit the homeless hard and I cannot see the Tories doing more to help rough sleepers get access to help in extreme circumstances.
Shame on us but especially the government firmly being proactive enough in this area.
Was it very cold in the winter of 2022 or was it throughout the year? And how?
It is awful to read such news. Why not just round the homeless up and relocate them in a village where they all could live in a community and work in a farm nearby?
And yet on subs like this and r/UKPolitics, folk float about campaign against housing in their areas…
This is what voters want it seems
So by “end homelessness” what the Tories are actually doing is letting them die. Cannot say I am surprised.
There’s two blokes in my city who were on the street who I haven’t seen for over a year, I always hope they just got off the street and they are included in this statistic. Really nice blomes just down on hard times, one of them tried to sell his drawings rather than begging. I hope they’re okay
More than 1,300 people were failed so spectacularly by this country that they died on the street, surrounded by people. What a remarkable accomplishment that we’ve created a society where this is even a possibility.
Never mind about all that though we got a coronation to pay for! /s
How many died alone in their homes with no family or health Workers checking on them?
Home many died and were found weeks or month later in their homes?
We could give them the materials, training, and land lot to build an accommodation or else they’ll perish. It’ll be a challenge for survival, it must be earned! We’ll invite the victors into a reality show where they compete for an actual home! Then reclaim their old properties for tourist sites of the history behind this awesome new show: ”Builder Showdown”!
Just a thought but what if we give homeless people small boats and push them out to sea. Let them crash back to shore and tell them to speak in broken English won’t they get a hotel/council house for life ? /s
These problems could be easily solved. It down to the government that it’s not.
And..they’re mostly men…
Last year alone, were 2,539 men sleeping rough in the streets per single night, compared to 464 women..most of the 1,300 people that died were men…
“In 2022 we lowered the number of homeless people on our streets by 1,300 and we will continue this good work to improve our communities through 2023”
I fear that this may be me in the future as I am disabled and unable to work. I rely on the government to house and feed me. I am living in my parents council house, can’t even get help to get my own place. There is no end in sight to my health issues as I can’t get effective help through the NHS for my physical issues and for my mental health problems I’m on a several year waiting list. I can’t afford to go private to see if I can get better help that way.
All I want to do is be independent and not burden the tax payer but at 25 I am becoming sicker by the week. I have been partially homeless several times (not on the street but couch surfing basically) and if I ever end up on the street I will absolutely die because my disability makes me incredibly sensitive to the cold, I will be paralysed and very ill
If I ever become well enough to work no one will want to hire me, even with my law degree, as I have only worked one day in my life and I will seem unemployable. It’s pretty difficult to not just give up right now, in many contexts I would be better off dead. I only have my parents and my boyfriend who lives abroad. I have good friends but I can’t burden them and many also live abroad.
My boyfriend wants to take care of me but the obstacles we have to go through to legally move to be together are immense and it will take years and be expensive. I am at a loss frankly.
