I was restricted to 6 options total so chose the 4 most commonly consumed in 2014 in the UK ([first link I found on google](https://www.statista.com/statistics/290301/tea-types-most-consumed-great-britain-uk/)). Interested to see how we compare to the country as a whole from almost a decade ago…

If you pick “other” let us know what type in the comments!

  1. I am very unhappy that the list didn’t include my favourite Taixing Rock tea, Qingfeng Suicha or the wonderfully innocent Dalan tea.

Any list that doesn’t even have basic Jun Shan Yin Zhen is an abomination. Totally unserious.

  2. Chamomile an hour or so before bed.

Rarely drink normal tea nowadays but if I’m having one it’s got to be strong and no sugar, probably Twinings breakfast.

  3. Green tea is my go-to. I’m always very wary of black teas since I feel they go bitter really quickly if you’re not careful and let them steep too long.

One other tea that I’ve really been on a big rush of lately is actually this strange Chinese tea. Lapsang souchong. It is very much a required taste. Under no circumstances try to use teabags for them. Get the loose leaf stuff it’s very necessary since the tea needs careful brewing. It’s a very smokey tea. You’d probably dislike it for your first couple of brews. Once you get used to it the tea is an absolute legend for soothing you.

  4. Is English breakfast tea normal tea?

At home I drink, what I would call, normal tea. Regular tetly, Yorkshire etc. whenever I’m abroad I go for English breakfast tea but it never tastes quite the same so I always wonder if it’s a different name for what we just call tea, or is it actually a different tea.

  5. Should really be multiple choice, as I’d drink most teas except fruit (‘infusion’ isn’t tea IMO) and rooibos (which tastes like fag ash).

My mainstay is lady grey, but when I can get it I like Russian Caravan and Blue Lady.

Shoutout to ‘The Earl’ which is often what you get if you ask for earl grey at cheap cafes, but they’ve replaced the bergamot with lemon. So it ends up tasting like fairy liquid.

  6. I drink peppermint tea or rooibos (redbush) tea.

My absolute favourite is [Dragonfly Cape Malay Chai](https://dragonflytea.com/products/cape-malay-organic-spiced-rooibos). Essentially chai, but made with rooibos instead of ‘normal’ tea, and with Cape Malay spices instead of Indian ones… though they’re mostly the exact same stuff. I imagine the blend is different or something.

But seriously, that stuff is heaven. I don’t get it very often, though. The price…

    EDIT:

Lol someone downvoted me for having a choice of tea. I prefer coffee, really, but doctor says no. A few years ago, before doctor said no, I would have loved my new job for one reson alone. They have a (free to use) bean to cup machine right there in the staff kitchen. It’s torturous going in there to put some boiling water on my bags, and smelling the freshly pumped espresso.

  7. Great question but terrible survey execution! “Which do you drink ever?”!! Needs the ability to select multiple answers.

I drink Red Bush, English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Lapsang Suchong, Chai and occasionally peppermint.

  8. Tried to vote not drinking tea and freaking reddit glitched out, wouldnt let me. Guess even reddit disapproves of my lack of British palate.

  9. Normal tea (that people not from the Uk or Ireland seem to call English Breakfast),
    Chamomile, and
    Mint

They are the three I cycle through the most in a day. I love trying different flavours
