Swedish sandwich cake

  1. Ah, Swedish cuisine, a veritable smorgasbord of culinary delights! From the pickled herring to the meatballs, from the crispbread to the lingonberry jam, every bite is a celebration of the Nordic spirit. And let us not forget the pièce de résistance: the mighty surströmming, a dish so pungent, so tangy, that it will leave even the most seasoned gourmand begging for mercy. Truly, Swedish cuisine is a testament to the ingenuity and perseverance of the Scandinavian people.

  2. Apparenty sandwich cakes are trendy again also here. I never liked them that much, but they’re ok

  3. These are quite common in Estonia as well. They are known as *võileivatort* (“sandwich cake” or literally “butter bread cake”).

  4. I found this out the hard way when I (Swedish) was going to bake a ‘sandwich cake’ with my British friends. Apparently, this was not what they had in mind. I was extremely perplexed when I saw the ingredients, which were for a Victoria sandwich cake.

  5. I wonder if it’s even worth the effort to show this yummy Smörgåstårta in r/food when the majority of these people are such hateful bastards who ban anyone that mentions Sweden, our Swedish dishes or pastries and even a single Swedish word.
