ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio have submitted their “financial requirements” for the years 2025 to 2028 to the Fees Commission. They are demanding increases of up to 2.71 percent per year. The DJV union wants more.

Union thinks that’s not enough

The German Association of Journalists (DJV) considers the broadcasters’ demand for more money from the contributors to be too low. The increase in personnel costs is not enough. One is “irritated because it is far from sufficient to compensate for the loss of real wages due to the ongoing inflation,” says the letter from the DJV to the directors of public broadcasting. “The DJV will not accept a further drop in real wages!” the union threatens.

The digitization, salaries and bonus need to be paid! I say 2.7% is not enough, let’s double it every year instead! Well, why even stop there, let’s triple it every semester! It is only fair. /S

  1. Germany already pays one of the highest TV taxes in the world, this is just waste of money.

A friend of mine also pointed a good question: it’s a tax, why isn’t it deducted from Brutto, but instead we pay it from net?

  2. It took me a while to realize the last paragraph is a joke from OP. I found it plausible that they demanded trippled wage raises every year.

  3. I wonder how much they could save by canceling stupid shows, movies, sports and series they are producing and only focus on journalism, reports, education and documentaries.

Also cut down on the amount of radio stations and channels.. it’s just too bloated

The problem , well lots of people would loose their job so nobody wants to support that idea, even if it would be the right step.

  4. I don’t watch television, I don’t listen to the radio, I don’t even have a TV. Fuck off you leeches.

  5. I could probably subscribe to 4 of my favorite streamers in Twitch for that money. And get this .. i actually watch them. Mind blown.

  6. Yes, keep pumping money into the next Til Schweiger vanity project, where he and his middle aged friends go on vacation and openly mock gender-nonconforming people. Maybe they’ll learn to reconnect with the kids they alienated with their boomer mentality. I can’t wait.

  7. The sheet audacity to ask for more money just months after we got a glimpse of the insane corruption happening in our public broadcasting networks…

  8. I don’t even have TV antenna connected, actually I don’t watch any German TV or Radio at all and I still pay 57 euros every three months for this shit and now they want even more?! Germany is all about taking more money and taxes from people for shit that’s not even useful or anybody uses.

  9. I don’t even use their $#!+, and I have to pay for it. I think this is the only country that makes you pay for things that you don’t use.

  10. I used to be supportive of public media but it has just become yet another way of enriching a few people while doing subpar quality production and not leading to a net benefit for the general public. I am not against news broadcasting and I believe that should still be funded by people. All the other shit that I have to pay for from my pocket which I have never watched and will never do feels like a state-organized theft for the few. Fuck this shit.
