Reckon it was lower at one point in the last 500 years but can’t quite put my finger on when
How sad, British people abandoning their traditions! Just because The Queen died they’re are upset? They should be happy they have a kink!
A monarchy is only as strong as its current monarch.
Im not agains monarchy, after all is a kind of turist atraction. But i think they should be financed by the private sector supporters. People are hungry, this is a lack of respect towards the citizenry.
Good, now push for a republic!
Good
So like the Scottish referendum that is always at an all time high one week and then an all time low the next week ?
>45% of respondents saying either it should be abolished, was not very important, or not at all important.
That’s a weird way to consolidate answers. I like the monarchy and don’t want them gone (I really don’t want President Farage) but I wouldn’t say they were VERY important.
Not sure these people are members of the British Polling Council either so nobody is checking the results are not some idealogical rubbish.
>The results suggest broad support for keeping the monarchy, with 58% preferring it to an elected head of state – which was supported by 26%.
You mean the dickhead from an out-of-date institution that no longer actually holds any legal power anymore, and that I really couldn’t care about, who’s harbouring a paedophile brother while almost disowning one of his own sons, spending my money and demanding elaborate ceremonies (including trying to make every local council do something with even more of my money), after inheriting one of the largest estates in the world?
Yeah, I’m not surprised they’re not popular.
Well, maybe the Brits want sovereignty after all.
When was the monarchy actually popular?
Do people really think abolishing the monarchy would benefit the people? The rest of the world should be enough example… Right now, the British monarchy is mostly a touristic asset, and a reeeeally big one. Whatever they cost the state/taxes would be spent somewhere else by the new order.
The Brexit was a big misstep already. Keep your Royal family as it is, very much harmless.
Who supports camilla as Queen anyways
Polls are a way for imbeciles to push their worldview by asking leading questions, not a way to display facts.
I would love to see Meghan Markle become the queen of England. That would be hilarious.
Like the monarchy cares. Prince andrew didn’t even start to sweat when he heard this.
This poll says that 58% want to keep the monarchy.
Lucky for the King that monarchy is not democracy.
honestly charles isn’t a bad king , if he just married camila in the 70s and thus avoided that shitshow in the 90s , he’d be very popular . Bro got into diversity and environmentalism way way before it was a cool PR for popular ppl
Don‘t king shame please!
Robespierre was right

Well that makes sense, the Queen was a cultural icon of the UK to which Charles probably can’t live up to
Monarchy is just completely outdated, so if the only reason anyone saw sense in it dies, it should be finally abolished imo
The coronation will change that, sadly
Whatever the practical benefits of the monarchy are that I hear UKers often argue for, I feel that the concept of “divine right”—even watered down as it now is—has no place in the modern world. It flies in the face of the enlightened notion that we’re all born fundamentally equal.

YouGov did do a more straightforward poll:
