Toastbrot… so basically toast bread. Or just Toast as an abbreviation.
If you want people in Austria to picture bread, this is definitely not the first thing that comes to mind…
I would probably call it Toastbrot = toast bread.

Das ist eine Scheibe **Toastbrot** (noch nicht getostet). Toast tue ich als Abkürzung für diese Art Brot verwenden. Aber mein erster Gedanke beim Wort Toast(brot) ist dieses eingepackte vorgeschnittene Brott aus dem Supermarkt, das in den Toaster kommt. Wenn etwas dabei ist dann sage ich das extra (Käsetoast, Schinkenkäsetoast, Toast Haiwai usw.).
In Austria we typically call it “Toast” or “Toastbread”. Abroad in the UK or Ireland they call it bread. But bread in Austria is something else.
If it is like on the picture: Toastbrot (“toast bread”)
If you toast it: Toast
If you put ham and cheese in and toast it: Schinken-Käse-Toast
Never met a local native speaker who’d call it Brot/bread by itself.
Either Toastbrot (especially for the base product before preparation) or plainly Toast (shortened and/or once actually toasted).
As others said, Toast/Toastbread. Never heard anyone call it just bread, unless there’s an obvious context.
Or in other words, if an Austrian asks you to go to the store and buy bread for him, he’ll certainly not mean this.
