[Can Okar] Turks in Germany famously vote for parties on the left, with over 90% voting SPD, Greens and Linke. That same group votes 65% for Erdoğan. They want social democracy for themselves and force autocracy on those at home. This is an immoral act and is sociopathically selfish.

  1. You got it wrong. They’re acting subversive. Radical islamists and nationalists who present themselves as “left-wing” in front of naive Westerners.

  2. People tend to cling to strongest sometimes and maybe that’s why Erdogan was elected time and again as he is seen someone as ‘Powerful’

  3. They vote spd because they are softer on immigration and let them get away more more shit. Make no mistake. They are socially conservative and would vote so if immigration didn’t play into it.

  4. They don’t exactly care for the parties. They vote for them because these parties are friendly to immigrants.

  5. They are not voting SPD out of conviction, they are voting for them because Turkish groups close to Erdogan have infiltrated the party and it advocates for policies that let them establish a parallel fundamentalist anti secular society in Germany under the guise of tolerance. They are religious fascists that get a free pass in Germany in exchange for supporting a certain party.

  6. Yeah these are not the same groups. The left shows people of turkish descent, the right turkish citizens in Germany. Obviously the latter is a far smaller group.

  7. Migrants from Turkey into Germany can either keep their turkish citizenship and vote in turkish elections, but not german elections, or they can choose to become german citizens in wich case they have to give up their turkish citizenship and can only vote in german elections. Those who choose to stay turkish citizens are usually more conservative, less willing to change. Thus they tend to vote for conservative partys. Those who choose to become german citizens tend to look into the future, not the past. They tend to be more progressive.

Of course this is an oversimplified version and doesn’t account for everyone.

  8. Question here. Are you sure that the Turks who vote in the German elections are the same who vote in the Turkish ones?

  9. Only 40 % of the Turks in Germany vote in the Turkish election in the first place, meaning that only 25 % of Turks in Germany vote for Erdogan.

  10. Portuguese people also emigrate to liberal countries but the overwhelming majority of expats votes go to the socialist party who has been destroying the country for the last 20 years and probably was the reason for them to go look for greener pastures. We not only like to suffer for being far from our homes, but we are resentfull of those who stay and want to see them suffer. Cant reason it in any other way.

  11. Most Turks vote left in Germany just because they not anti immigration, people have the right to have their own views regarding their home country and free whether to vote for Erdogan or not , half of the people triggered in the comments won’t make a voice if an Israeli elected Netanyahu
