> The Russian Embassy in Dublin has said that Ireland risks being considered a party to the war in Ukraine if it expresses support for military volunteers such as the Irishman who died near the city of Bakhmut.
>
> **Source:** a commentary by the Russian Embassy on 28 April, as reported by European Pravda
>
> **Details:** The statement noted that the Russians had paid attention to the words of Micheál Martin, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ireland, who expressed condolences to the family of Finbar Cafferkey, who had been killed near Bakhmut. The minister called him “a young man with clear principles”.
>
> The Russian embassy said that they did not know anything about Finbar and his principles and beliefs, but he fought in another country and “to a large extent, it was the Irish authorities and the media who were responsible for his death” because they say “anti-Russian propaganda” and allegedly distorted information about the war prompted the Irishman to make such a decision.
>
> **Quote:** “We also do not know whether Mr Martin’s comment supports the Irish participation in the fighting in Ukraine. However, we do know that if this is the case, Ireland can be considered a direct participant in the conflict with all the ensuing consequences,” the Russian embassy said.
>
> **Details**: In response to this statement, Charlie Flanagan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, called for the expulsion of the Russian ambassador from the country.
>
> “Here is a threatening, intimidating and chilling statement from the Russian Embassy in Dublin. Such hostile statements are unacceptable. It’s high time we asked Ambassador Filatov and his team to leave our country,” he said.
>
> **Backgrounad:** In the autumn of 2022, Ireland requested that some of the staff of the Russian embassy leave the country.
>
> On 28 April, an Irish citizen, Finbar Cafferkey was reportedly killed in combat against Russian forces near Bakhmut.
>
> Cafferkey was around 40 years old and a native of Achill Island in County Mayo.
Secretary of Russian Embassy:
*checking notes*
“Huh. Hey boss!”
“What?”
“Did you know Ireland is not part of NATO?”
“Wait what? Really? I assumed they are.”
“Apparently not.”
“Excellent news, comrade!”
So, Russians never got their ass kicked by drunk Irish bois. There’s always a first time
We need to expel them, by force if need be. Finbar was a hero and the fucking audacity for those warmongering dickheads to attack him is beyond the pale.
Fuck Russia !! 🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺
The Irishman who died near Bakhmut has my respect and support and his family has my condolences – their son and brother died a hero. As does everyone else who fights for Ukraine.
Ireland is the no1 “forward operating base ” for Apple and Amazon. Putin really must be crazy if he wants to f around with that.
Don’t worry Ireland, Lavrov will come forward and say you’re not a friendly country to travel to, like he did with Canada. Good riddance!!! Why should they comment, travel, enjoy the freedom of countries they are openly aggressive towards.
What war, Russia?
So, they want to expand NATO even more, is the russian plan to just make everyone join NATO?
Well, I guess Ireland will now be joining NATO too.
Russia thinks threats towards far away countries, that didn’t work when much of the world believed they were a real military power, will work now. Now when they’re tied up in a war and their military has proved itself to be a pathetic laughing stock.
Ireland should joint NATO ASAP, perhaps just to annoy fucking ruzzia.
Well they were threatening us with a nuclear tidal wave on their state TV channels a few months ago.

And they tried to build some kind of weird underground bunkers at the embassy:

We don’t even have any significant history of trade or general contact with Russia, yet they expanded their embassy to the scale that it was second only to the U.S. embassy in scale and staffing which is just bizarre given the minuscule amount of trade and lack of any signifiant reason for it. Irish diplomatic representation in Moscow was also on a tiny scale, very much reflective of reality.
I don’t really think we need diplomatic relations with Russia. They should pack up and leave.
Ooh I’m sure that Ireland is quivering, since Russia would have to literally get through all the rest of Europe to get to them.
