>Ex-standards chief leads calls to reopen probes into Boris Johnson’s luxury flat refit after he ‘misled’ inquiry
Lied.
FTFY
I will keep repeating that:
Public lying by a politician with intention to mislead the public should be a criminal offence.
Wait, Boris Johnson misled someone?
You mean THE Boris Johnson? The man with maybe one of the worst track records (in the UK) involving lying, misleading and corruption?

I’m completely blown away. Never would’ve expected this!
Regardless of whether or not he “lied” (in Minecraft) about the source of the funds, why are people not more mad about the fact that our Prime Minister has apparently been going around major donors, cap in hand, trying to scrounge a few quid to do his flat up without having to pay for it himself? The dishonesty and obfuscation is one thing, but the fact that access to the PM can apparently be procured for the cost of a few rolls of posh wallpaper, and that he’s not only open to this but actively soliciting it, should be a matter of public outrage.
Do you have to be in violation of both before the seven principles apply? All I’m saying is…
Serious question: Do we think this might actually bring him down? Surely the only way to oust him is a vote of No Confidence from the Tories?
I kinda wish there was a mechanism for the public to force a GE or at least a reselection of PM. At the moment, the only option we have is to get a lot of signatories and despite absurd numbers of people calling for a rerun of the EU referendum after Johnson’s (winning) team were found to have cheated, they just said ‘No’ and could do so again, even if millions of citizens sign a form demanding an immediate GE.
The only thing that has changed in this article is their (bureaucrats) apparent new found appetite to do something about it.
I believe Dominic Cummings (who started this story) claimed the PM approached him about finance for the renovations & said he would approach a Tory donor. That the donor had supplied the money, against Dominic Cummings advice. Some smoke and mirrors were then applied & the money passed through the party first.
Perhaps with the Christmas party story, cocaine in Westminster story & the dip in the polls for Tories it has given them the courage to do the right thing now?
I don’t care, just so long as I get to see that mop muppet leave Downing Street in shame!
MPs are above the law unless their colleagues decide otherwise. Doubly so the PM.
Ooh, lemme guess. We’re gonna be told that Boris was repeatedly and for various different reasons just *confused*, like they did with Cummings and Boris’s dad.
Despite Johnson apparently being savvy and compos mentis enough to run the sodding country and represent us on the world stage, they’ll go for the usual excuse; that he in his signature bumbling fashion stumbled into a series of accidents, mistaken assumptions, and/or episodes of memory loss which caused anything for which he might be condemned. They’ll explain that he didn’t know what he was allowed to do or not do, and will mysteriously fail to ask why he didn’t bother *finding* out either.
This defence will (as always) serve a dual purpose in being serious enough to excuse anything illegal/stupid/dodgy Boris may have done as not having *actually* been wrong nor his fault, while simultaneously NOT being serious enough to justify worries about future fuckups happening or to raise questions concerning Johnson’s competence.
