>This figure, however, must be taken with a grain of salt, as Statec refuses to calculate a wealth threshold. “Just like the poverty line, there is no single approach to calculate a wealth threshold,” said the statistics office. Despite this, Statec publishes data on the poverty line annually.
Hilarious.
People working in the public sector have double the value for the country than people working in the private sector… 😅
Is it true to say that there are 1st and 2nd class citizens?
Bragging about how they requested the deciles…. and not sharing them in the article.
This, in combination with the fact that they don’t know how to distinguish between average and median, makes for great journalism.
Well now that there is no official way to calculate it how will I ever know if I am rich or poor?
did no one notice that the average salary in the public sector is more than twice as big as in the private sector? that borders on surreal. it is economic segregation at this point.
If I want to check that I go to [www.lesfrontaliers.lu](https://www.lesfrontaliers.lu), check the calculator and the salary study.
Employee: Hey boss, I just read this article on rtl. I think I am underpaid.
Boss: No no son, you see, its these lazy government employees that are just overpaid dunces.
Employee: Thanks boss, I knew it. Stupid government people trying to make me feel poor.
Boss: Exactly. Remember, you earn 10x more than the average monthly wage in Kyrgyzstan. You are practically a king. Now go back to work king and keep on hustlin’. That work experience isn’t gonna make itself.
Employee: For sure boss. Now I feel motivated enough to put in some free extra hours.

EUR 8,500 average gross pay in the public sector is just crazy, considering that those that earn half as much on average have to pay for it.
The median gross salary in the public sector is easily double the median in the private sector. There are likely very different jobs in both sectors, and a lot of low-paying services and jobs in the private sector (cleaning, retail, fast-food), but still… damn.
