UK household consumers have a price cap ‘luckily’ while cost will rise utility company have to take the hit. So for example I pay £1.16 per therm even though the wholesale cost at the time of writing is £4.11 a therm (much more than the article states, it’s already out of date prices have leapt higher in the 4 days since it was written) and the utility firm cannot increase the price till next April.
Doesn’t help businesses though, they don’t have the same protection afaik.
Edit: just remembered a bit more about businesses they seem to have fixed term contracts, so they might be okay if they have a long term contract, but in big trouble if they’re due for renewal. Not an expert on the UK business gas rates, but this is what I vaguely remember.
Maybe it’s time to become less reliant on cars.
As a result my rent from the agency went up by 25%. Greaaat…
