Stephen Lawrence: Metropolitan Police chief admits ‘we have let black communities down’ in 30 years since teenager’s murder

  1. “They feel over-policed and under-protected,” Sir Mark Rowley said, adding there are still “disproportionalities and systemic biases in our use of policing tactics and our support to victims of crime”.

That’s all very nebulous. Does anyone have any insight into anything specific that this person is talking about.

From the demographics of murderers and murder victims in London, it’s sounds like the main way they’re letting black communities down is by not doing enough to stop black teenage boys from stabbing each other.

  2. A community so over-policed and under protected? Didn’t The Met set up a hugely resourced department (Op Trident) singularly investigating crime within it? How many other ‘communities’ have to have their own murder teams, shootings teams and proactive drugs teams?
