1,400 Heathrow security staff to strike for eight days next month – as Passport Office workers plan walkout

  1. It is going to be a summer of travel chaos at this rate. The unions will hold the government over a barrel until their demands are met, causing the government a wave of negative PR for failing to do something to stop strikes when they will have had months to avoid them.

  2. They can’t afford to give in to any pay rises for any public sector worker. If they do, then it will expose the lie that public sector pay rises will lead to inflation increasing when it continues to fall despite paying workers properly.

  3. Can’t get there due to train strikes anyway.

But can’t afford a rail fare as prices have gone up far above inflation whilst pay hasn’t near matches inflation.

  4. I came through Heathrow yesterday, it was a bit chaotic (passport control went kaput for a bit after 2 flights had landed).

I imagine it’ll be fucked 10x as much with a security strike. Also, should we be advertising this?
