That’s brutal, but I really don’t see what alternative she has other than to do a DNA test. If one of the parents is dead, how can you prove that they actually are the father/mother of the child when you try to register. They can’t just take your word for it. It’s clearly important to her, but sadly DNA test cost a lot of money.
It sucks. Perhaps the moral is ‘Even if you’re only 35 and don’t expect to die, get some life insurance if you’re starting a family with someone’
She and the baby could have had fewer financial issues as a result.
