Hello friends, I do not know if it is the best sub for this post but wonted to share interesting photo I found and have never seen before. The Cuerpo de Seguridad y Asalto was urban police unit which was precursor of todays riot police. It was created becouse republic was not that stable and authorithies did not trust Guardia Civil leaving them policing countryside. During Spanish civil war 70% of its units stay loyal to the republic and were one of better trained and equipped units of the republican side. Though some still joined the rebellion. I got really interested in spanish civil war history and really wanted to share this photo. I thought that from beggining the assult guards were disbanded in nationalist zones but Polica Armada new urban police was created in 1940, made mostly of assult guards who joined army rebellion.
Guardia Civil is a Police that was created to work out of the cities. So if you needed to control a riot in the capital city, the Guardia Civil is not the unit you need.
Guardia Civil is oriented to rural areas, they were created to fight against thieves in the country roads.
