  1. The HSE stood over that suggestion on Friday outlining how the beds are “very important to the healthcare system, but represent an extremely small part of the capital plan in monetary terms”.

    FfS. Zero accountability in the HSE.

A not insignificant part of the issue is that they are mandating all new acute beds need to be individual rooms- which increases costs, increased demand on space to build the same amount of beds (of which some hospitals have no room to build large amount of these single occupancy rooms), increases staff needed/time needed to safely provide care, and for a number of vulnerable groups puts patients at increase risks.
