I know this question sounds insane…. But I love Edwardian architecture so much, that I want to buy some land & build an inspired styled house like this from scratch in Poland. Are there contractor companies that specialize in this kind of construction? And would the people of Poland not mind this?

I honestly can’t tell what’s a shitpost anymore
I doubt anyone would mind this, it’s decent old style house. Just find a good architect to plan it for you. You shouldn’t have a problem finding contractors that specialize in wooden constructions, they have their renaissance in Poland.
You have to check plot plans and see if they allow building such a house. For instance, if the neighborhood is full of flat roof houses then you might not be able to build a house like in the photo.
But is it safe?
Google “świdermajer” which is traditional architecture for one of Warsaw suburbs – in the area of Otwock. Not that different at all.
You must check with “plan miejscowy” or get “warunki zabudowy” for the area you are interested in to see what you can build there.
Is Poland safe for Edwardian architecture???
Not impossible but it’s gonna be insanely expensive compared to a standard porotherm/ytong house.
But why would you event want to build such a house in Poland?
This must be North American Edwardian, because the Edwardian I’m used to seeing has much more masonry in it.
As to your question, I’d guess the answer is maybe. You’d be better off checking with the Polish authorities instead of asking reddit.
That is insane, how dare you wanting a nice house in Poland!!!
Those houses were built the way they were, and lool like this for a reason.
Of course if you mean US version (I think photo is from US), not UK version of this architecture.
Those were built in warmer climate, good luck heating house like this when harder winer hits Poland.
But yes, you can pick a ready made project with similar style, even from a catalogue of architectural projects.
Search for “projekty domów szkieletowych” for example.
Nobody will give a flip about the style of your home.
There will likely be a bunch of architects very happy to work with an unusual design, you don’t see this kind of architecture in Poland.
Please be aware that Polish climate is unforgiving and this kind of house will need certain modifications to be functional in winter. It cannot be mostly wooden, unless you mean it as a summer home.
I have a polish relative married to a Spanish guy. They did a large refurb together. She said everything took twice as long and cost way more than it should because he kept insisting on everything being done the way he was used to in Spain. Her advice to me was if you build something in Poland do it the Polish way.
No doubt you can achieve what you want but if you really care about the style I’d guess you want a Polish architect on board who can stay on top the project.
People won’t care what you build on your property, as long as it keeps with the local regulations about height etc.
You should also consider that this architecture is not designed for polish climate. while not impossible, making it insulated and otherwise fitted well for local Poland climate (fairly warm summers, cold and windy winters) may add to cost.
probably still better than some of local polish houses with no architecture at all
Wow, that’s a unique passion! I think it’s great that you have such a love for Edwardian architecture and want to build your dream home inspired by it. As for finding a contractor company that specializes in this type of construction in Poland, it may take some research but it’s definitely possible. As for whether the people of Poland would mind, I think as long as you adhere to local building codes and regulations, they would appreciate the addition of a unique and beautiful home to their community. Best of luck in your endeavor!
I’ve seen crazier houses in Poland. With this one, good luck in winter.
You got a lot of great advice here already. I’d like to add that it is imperative to check that the plot is safe here before building. Cheers.
It will be quite challenging. Building home is challenging in Poland (done it couple years ago, seriously, lot of money, lot of effort etc)
There are many companies in PL constructing houses made of wood. Problem I see at first glance is WT2021 standard. It is energy efficiency standard, could be hard to reach in this style? You should consult witch local architect.
Do Polish construction workers make safe houses?
the only downside will be more attraction from thieves lmao
