North Americans visit Poland and are shocked it’s not an under developed backwater but a modern European country.
Quelle surprise.
*slow clap*

like, should we praise their ignorance or…? that they thought that polar bears were running on the Polish streets or something and *gasp* they were proven wrong? congratulations, I guess
What do you expect from foreigners at this point
… My friend’s father has been offered a fridge around 15 years ago by a guy from Germany. The guy was really happy that friend’s dad will “finally” have a fridge. He also was – apparently – very confused while informed they dont need his fridge, they have their own in their damn house in Poland. So I really dont know anymore what people think about us. Do they really think we dont have fridges and we only eat buckwheat with fried onion while being super duper poor? I just can’t.
I’ve visited Poland twice and loved it both times. In 2012 there was a ton of road construction all around the country that made it a mild inconvenience but our second time in 2019 there was almost none. I still recommend traveling to Poland, so many great things to see!
What in the bargain basement bourdain is this video lol.
I appreciate on one hand Americans try and open themselves up to new experiences but it always comes across so dopey and ignorant.
Is Poland safe for my expectations?

“I expected to like Poland. I knew Poland was better than most people give it credit for. I knew it was better than the recognition it gets on the world stage. I did not expect to love Poland. “

Well, that’s positive.
