Private care home director took home 120 times more money than front line staff

  1. The first care home we had to put my father in for day care was so bad it was written up 6 times. We had to constantly battle with them just to get basic care services. It was run down and we eventually got him moved after a complaint was upheld. It was god damn expensive too, the Hilton in town would have been significantly cheaper.

The bloated, red faced owner drove around in a new Bentley with custom plates.

  2. All our health services are heavily corrupted, but the cult that has been built around it protects it from criticism unfortunately, stand and clap for letting thousands of necessary procedures being cancelled and causing more deaths than they prevent.

  3. Although accurate I think the headline is a little misleading, to me it reads like it is about the director of one care home.

I had a look at the article and they are looking at the director of a £660M turnover company with over 250 care homes and I think some other healthcare facilities. It’s still quite a sizeable wage, but probably about market rates for the company size.

  4. I dont understand why we as a country are happy putting our older relatives into accomodation where they are looked after by minimum wage employees, how do people think their parents are being looked after when these people work ridiculous hours and are paid shit.

  5. Why do we not have as many strikes/union actions as the US and Europe?

I’m convinced that the way things are currently going strikes must be coming in the new year for higher wages.

  6. Why do these care home companies need directors anyway?

Can’t we just let the residents run the place?
