The other 40% didn’t understand the question
Don’t want to be rude but most of my Maltese acquaintances, who are all over 30 still live with their parents, so my question would be: Would you be ready for your first experience living alone to be in a foreign country without the insular support you get here?
Who would have know that crapping on people’s quality of life would make them unhappy?
What move to a country where toilet cleaners get paid more than fully qualified chefs here (toilet cleaners in Australia get 13 euro a hour for example). But but income tax, nope 19 percent on the dollar OVER 18k AUD so no income tax under that. Malta 3rd world wages but 1st world costs.
Ah the weekly ‘We hate our country’ thread.
Industrial society and its consequences have been a disaster for the maltese people
Good, makes a peaceful life for us old people :):)
Not surprising. Now that we’re greylisted many companies are on their way out and with them go the jobs.
And let’s be honest, this is not a nice place to live. No proper greenery, no forests (except for limited woodlands like Buskett). Any untouched “nature” is ~~weeds and rocks~~ few and far between. Everywhere else is either square apartment blocks designed to extract maximum units (i.e. money) out of their limited footprint, or villas or houses that cost 3-4 times what an average Maltese worker can stand to make over his entire *lifetime* (€24,000 average GDP per capita x 40 years from graduation to retirement = just under €1 million euro lifetime earnings. Some *apartments* are selling for more than that).
Enforcement is non-existent. Cars are allowed to pollute freely. You can’t walk on any street without smelling the stench of exhaust. Pavements are narrow, full of rubbish bags or house steps, or broken and damaged, or with other obstacles, so you frequently have to walk in the road. In some cities like Msida and Bugibba the rubbish piles up and starts to stink under the hot sun.
Getting anywhere takes an hour because of all the traffic, and another 15 minutes looking for parking. The bus will take twice as long. Taxis are a no-go because they cost you an hour’s wages.
The courts are a joke, they come down hard on petty crimes but then give serious criminals a slap on the wrist. This after taking several *years* to come to a conclusion (seems 8-12 years is the average).
The people by and large only care about themselves. They will drive a car that’s making visible exhaust because fuck the environment, saving €60 on the mechanic is all that matters. They literally sweep dust from their pavement into the street, because fuck the neighbors, their own house being clean is all that matters and they’re not wasting a bucket of water for the sake of keeping dust off the street. They will park their car badly and half-block your garage door because they can’t be bothered to spend 2 minutes aligning it with the road markings like a considerate citizen who gives one iota of care about anyone but themselves. They will vote for a government that promises them the most perks, because fuck the country losing reputation from corruption and wasting taxpayer money enriching themselves and their friends… as long as they get a few crumbs (cheaper electricity bills, a cushy government job for their child, and a permit to build an apartment on whatever land they own), they’re happy. L-ewwel jiena, it-tieni jiena, u jekk jifdal xi haga, it-tielet jiena.
I think people mostly stay here to be next to family. Maybe for financial reasons if they managed to buy a house before prices really became crazy. Maybe due to fear of the unknown. But quality of life is in steep decline, and with the way things have been developing and nobody in power caring enough (or having any motivation really) to halt the decline, I forsee a dark future approaching. I hope I’m wrong.
The boomers must be so shocked.
Well i moved to Malta to get away from rest of Europe. Funny How that works eyyy 🤷🏼
Its a small island and isn’t in the best shape these days, can you blame them?
I think pound for pound I could get a better wage and spend less living abroad. So yes given the choice I would probably seek to set up my life elsewhere. More importantly I’d look for access to family facilities such as more parks, better infrastructure in general and a less favouritism than we have here.
It’s totally unstandable. Living with a starting job here is hard. And the qualified are so underpaid and overworked it’s ridiculous. Buying/renting a property is crazy. We left back in the day to Australia and Canada. Guess history is repeating itself.
I wonder what countries most go to. Australia seems to be the biggest migrant country outside of Europe, but it didn’t give in-Europe stats. Italy? Greece? Netherlands? It would be very interesting to know.
This survey isn’t really anything new for people paying attention.
All the commies want to leave. In the meantime people who see the bigger picture want to move to Malta. Ill be so glad when all the leftist cunts leave there.
Yet it’s full of foreigners and only a few Maltese actually emigrate. Any theories why?
It’s good they should move.it will make them appreciate Malta much more.its not all green on the other side
