Nobody holds ‘brutal’ police to account – Doreen Lawrence

  1. I don’t know why the media allow this woman’s ongoing trauma to be played out in the public domain, because it’s really unedifying and unhelpful. Comments like this are categorically false; the police are scrutinised beyond belief, to a level that would shock and terrify other parts of the public sector (mental health services, social services, looking at both of you) and being involved in policing is clearly an aggravating factor when it comes to sentencing for any criminal offence perpetrated either in or out of uniform these days.
People don’t want to police anymore because the money is horrible, conditions are horrible, most public interactions are horrible, and drivel like this dominates the narrative.

  2. Except for:

    The IOPC,
    HMICFRS,
    Police professional standards units,
    The courts,
    The government,
    Police & Crime Commissioners,
    The public and social media,
    Newspapers,
Probably many more I can’t remember,

There really are an awful lot of people who hold the Police to account.

    I’ll almost certainly get downvoted
