James Connolly: The British Monarchy Is an Affront to Democracy

  1. Yes I’d agree, but that’s in the hands of the Brits, Spanish, Danes, etc. in Ireland I’d want to make politics more transparent and having real punishment for those who ‘forget’ to inform the bodies in charge when they and family benefit

  2. Well that’s a matter for the British People to decide to be honest. I just don’t get the whole uproar or the fascination about them here.

Leave them at it until the people of Britain decide otherwise.

  3. Given we don’t have a monarchy, I don’t care. Up to the people of the countries that do have them to decide that.

  4. Things that some Redditors assume will happen in Ireland if the Brits abolish the monarchy:

    – More affordable housing
    – Reduced hospital waiting times
    – Railway network revitalization
    – Skyscrapers
    – Metrolink
    – Massive forestation
    – The return of Fungie
    – UN headquarters relocated to Cork
