I did flip through the previous posts with similar topics, but I think I still could use a bit more recent and precise help from You guys.
We are coming by car from Estonia and we are a bit worried about the weather/road conditions as it seems that this year has been quite different from previous ones. Most of it should be fine, but in the end we are travelling in the fjords between Oslo and Bergen (11-19th of May) and would like to use some mountain pass roads, can we completely trust the [yr.no](https://yr.no) data and use those roads (which are not marked to need winter/studded tyres) with summer tyres or should we come with studded tyres (keeping in mind that in that case we need to travel hundreds of kilometers on roads where winter tyres are already illegal to use (especially as I only have studded winter tyres))?

I would rather have used this website: [https://www.vegvesen.no/trafikkinformasjon/reiseinformasjon/](https://www.vegvesen.no/trafikkinformasjon/reiseinformasjon/)
Here you can see cameras from the roads, and get updated road information.

Are you asking if you should use studded winter tires when you know they’re illegal?
Personal experience. Youll be finde 98 percent of the time with summer tires. But i had two occasions while driving trough the saltfjell where i got into some heavy snowfall in june an juli.
Winter tires are never illegal to use. Studded tires have limited seasons, not winter tires in general. If you’re concerned, just use studless winter tires. Can’t go wrong.
If I were you I would use regular summer tires, but if it suddenly snows or something, change your plans. Find another mountain pass, wait it out, go somewhere else etc
When you travel in between seasons like this, nobody can guess what weather or driving conditions you will get, so adapt to the conditions and stay safe.
