(From VRT liveblog)

– Closing cinemas, theatres and concert halls

– No more indoor activities, with the exception of museums and sports activities

– No more public at indoor or outdoor sporting events

– Going to the shop with a maximum of two people (minors not included) and one customer per ten square metres

– There will be more controls on the flow of people in shopping streets and at Christmas markets.

– Tents will be prohibited at outdoor events.

– Overnight stays at youth and sports camps will no longer be possible.

– There will be no mandatory limit on the number of people we can host at home, although there is the clear advice to keep it to a minimum and to ventilate well.

  1. No one:

Government: close the theaters and cinemas.

Virologists didn’t want this, so sounds like it’s an “action for action’s sake”

  2. For Christ’s sake, mandate the vaccine already.

And I dearly hope they have the foresight this time to already start preparing for a fourth booster or we’ll be in the same situation again come the next variant.

I was hoping to see mandatory work from home policies too (even if they barely control this).

  3. This is the first time I disagree with measures taken. The measures have always been about relieving pressure from hospitals and making sure as many people as possible could be given good care.

These restrictions are because “we’re not sure how omicron will act”. Idk how I feel about measures that get taken preemptively. It sets a precedent that I don’t like.

I’ll keep following the advice and stick to the rules, but begrudgingly.

  4. Cultural sector closed again, hearing Jambon empathize with “his” sector as the Minister of Culture feels really hollow and like a slap in the face. I don’t even work in the sector and it still didn’t feel sincere at all.

  5. Not really seeing the point of putting capacity limits in shops if everyone is masked and most people are vaxxed.

Does the government have trace data to show them as a risk point? Or is this a play to get union support?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of crowded stores (IKEA on a Saturday is the fifth ring of hell), but this measure makes no sense.

  6. Just booked online ticket for the Matrix in Kinepolis. Movie starts in 30 mins. Waiting in my car in front of the cinema 🔥🔥❤️❤️

  7. Nothing about Universities? I know y’all in Flanders have sensical Universities, but I am getting scared…

There just isn’t room to put students on every other chair, and hallways always have been worse than a festival in terms of being pushed around. And we’ll be in January. Air quality detectors have never being respected despite being in red since September. This entire thing doesn’t make any sense…

I guess I do need to purchase a plexiglass for that stupid group work now too… not like that’s how any of this works…

  8. So there’s 3 weeks of vacation for kids but FUCK ALL to do with them. All indoor activities closed? So yeah, guess we’ll euhmmmm…. walk in the woods and play board games? Again?

Yeah, i’m pissed off without limit. I worked my ass off all year, obeyed most if not all measures, took over the teachers job for weeks, … and now FUCKING FINALLY time to take a load off and relax a little. “Oh sorry, there’s nothing to do lololol”

I’m booking a plane ticket to the carribean, no matter the cost.

Oh, and if you’re an antivaxxer, know that i’m putting the blame on you and hope you fucking die. Please add me in your will so your next of kin can contact me if you die so i can come piss on your grave for good measure.

  9. I’ve been to our local pool with my kid this afternoon to wear her down from constantly sitting in the house, and you could not find a parking spot. I said surely, they won’t let us in, let’s go home. Kid was devastated so to prove the point that I’m not making the rules, took her there after finally parking 500m away.

They let us in. No ID check, no CST. No masks needed from the cabines. Only question was, how old is the little one.

There was a crowd in the area with the slides and jacuzzi and river thing. Literally 3 kids in the kleuter area and about 5 in the kids pool. Also, in the actual swimming pool there were only a few elderly. The sports part was accounting for about 1/5th of all people. Meanwhile the fun part was just really crowded.

Even that I am against this whole closing down nonsense, I would have closed pools before cinemas, if we really need to close indoor activities. A cinema and a theater is a lot more controlled than a pool.

Oh in the Museum of Natural Sciences there was a kid licking the touchsreens this weekend.

    Rant over.

  11. Any chance this is purely motivated to stop/lessen the influx of dutch visitors after their own lockdown?

  12. Shooting with blanks at a deer that is already out of view continues.
Monitoring shopping streets should’ve been decided the moment the Dutch announced lockdown.

  13. Went to the cinema Saturday for Spiderman, video kept freezing so i was sent home, book a ticket for tuesday and now the cinema’s are closing. Fml.

  14. “Als we ons best doen en ons laten vaccineren hebben we mooie feestdagen eind dit jaar”. The next politician or virologist that says crap like that should be fired.

  15. We can’t vaccinated ourselves out of this pandemic! Most us are already double vaxxed, 30% is already boostered. It is clear that the vaccines do not work against spread.
Mandating is another Liberty that we would lose and would not help us.

  16. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Als we even volhouden met z’n allen zijn we er het rapst weer vanaf.

  17. All the concerts I went to in the last month:

    – 1/4 of the space taken
    – Everyone masked
    – Everyone has to show CST (even though that doesn’t do shit)
    – Well ventilated, no movement
    – Everyone sitting

BUT LETS CLOSE THE CULTURAL SECTOR AND LEAVE THE CROWDED UNVENTILATED BARS OPEN!!! Jezus christ.

Time to go to the protests.

  18. I am thinking of Romania. About 40 % vaccination rate. Many people refused the second shot, while the boosters even less.

No adherence to COVID rules, although legally binding. Yet… No big problems. In some places green pass, but not really checked.

There must be something out of sight.

I spent most of the time working from there because of such relaxing attitude.

  19. Can anybody explain the thought process with the youth/sport camp overnight rules? I’d say that “limiting contacts” means keeping the same people to interact with, and the same group for a whole week seems pretty secluded. Hanging out a whole day together and then going back home and coming into contact with your family/outside friends seems pretty counterintuitive to me.

  20. As someone who studied cultural management and is about to start a career in the cultural sector (job interview very soon) I’m left in disbelief. I’m angry. What is this bullshit? I’ve always followed as many measures as possible (even though I didn’t always agree with them) but what the actual f*ck is this clownery?
