Folks, I’ve tried Tesco and SuperValu, and all those “extra hot” spicy sauces are disappointing.

Any suggestion on where I can get some proper ones?

Cheers

  1. Asian shops have the proper “Rooster” brand Sriracha. There are others in very similar packaging but don’t be fooled, the rooster one is the best.

  2. Dunno if you can get it in Ireland but my fella loves El Yucateco red hot sauce. He has to buy it online here so you might get it online there too. To be honest I like it too, I just use a lot less 🥵

  3. Go to heatsupply.nl all Irish sauces are shite.

Anything by queen majesty is a winner.

Also Sriracha is just spiced sugar syrup, much better out there.

  4. Firebyrd in Ranelagh sells a wide selection of hot sauces behind the counter – I think you might be able to see their selection and get them online as well

AYCE wings on Mondays as well which is deadly

  5. Get some fresh Carolina reapers from Fallon and Byrne on wicklow st. Oriental pantry on Moore st has a Mexican section. If you want to try something a bit different order a phall from your local Indian, spice and rice still does one.

  6. As others have mentioned, Mic’s Chili.
He has a Galway Bay Brewery collaboration pack that includes a lovely barbecue sauce too.

Others have mentioned Asian stores, but specifically a favorite of mine you can get in some of them is the Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Sauce, which is Korean, and very tasty. Comes in a wee black and red bottle.

  7. Asian and spice shops, if you around tkmaxx or home sense check their food corner, they got some American stuff once in awhile

  8. Surprised there is no love for Valentina Salsa picante? The original yellow label is good with everything and the black label (muy picante) is hot to trot. 370ml bottles for €2.50 on mexicanthings.ie Would recommend both
