  1. >On December 14, 2022, a week after Austria blocked Romania from Schengen
by voting in the JHA, the president of the PSD and the Chamber of
Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, claimed that “Romania must exercise its right
of veto over the interests of the Austrian state”, as an answer.
**Instead, President Klaus Iohannis announced that there will be no**
    **Romanian boycott of Austria.**

Does this entire article go on about how they will boycott something Austria will do just to end with the President saying they won’t ?

  2. As a Romanian I have mixed feelings about that. For the simple facts that Austrians behave so stupid and have double standards, I don’t think that we should retaliate with such measures that may affect other partners and friendly nations. Austria (and for that matter the Austrians that keep these jerks into power) demonstrated that they are again on the wrong side of history and all the other European nations saw that already. Romania should continue it’s economic development (btw, in the next five years our GDP will be bigger than the GDP of Austria) and should continue to be a security provider in this part of Europe, together with our Polish friends. Austria is stupid enough nowadays to implode by itself…

  3. Not while we have the current president who is all about “diplomacy”. But elections will happen next year and this topic will for sure be discussed. Whoever promises to do the most amount of damage to Austria will probably win 🙂

  4. romania will remain a dump, no matter what it does. Any country is right to block its accession into Schengen, in fact, it such a nationalist and corrupt country, it shouldnt even be an EU member in the first place. I applaud the Austrians for having the balls to this, wish more countries joined in on it.
