Monthly salary in Poland (in 2018) Before you ask if you can “get by” on 20000 zl per month 😉

  1. Nice, teraz kolejna waloryzacja minimalnej i po jeszcze kolejnej w styczniu większość będzie na takiej samej pensji 😀

  2. Yes except that’s 5 years ago and salaries are inflating too, albeit at a lower pace than inflation.

Have to add ~30% to those salaries today. Rental prices have doubled since.

  3. PLN 20k gross in Warsaw is not the same as PLN 20k gross in Pierdziszewo Dolne.

  4. I also have the impression that they just want to *show off* what they will be earning in Poland.

There were a lot of *humble* brag posts about how much they pay in taxes, like:

“*I was buying some groceries in Biedronka, and the Ukrainian cashier asked me what I was doing in Poland, and then I replied that I pay more in taxes than what she earns yearly.”*

  5. As comments that the data is old are coming, please provide sth newer that shows what I posted. Monthly salaries in percenatges. Somehow nobody posted it yet.

  6. This chart is completely useless. As many people have pointed out, it’s already 5 years old – since then the average salary has increased by more than 50% (4.5k vs 7k today).

Not only that, it also doesn’t take into account the 3.5 million people who are self-employed and usually earn much more than “regular” employees.

  7. Is there a more recent study like this, for instance from last year? It would be great to actually see the purchasing power and inflation in the same graph, to actually see how salary gaps changed based on actual purchasing power and the effect and the inflation on this. Surely, 10k gross 5 years ago are “worthing” much more than 10k gross of today

  8. What’s the point of stats from 2018? In last 5 years everything changes af

  9. Why are you bitching about the salary other people get with pre-pandemic figures?

Take that 20000zl per month salary and try and live a comfortable life in london, Berlin, Paris or New York for a year.

I guarantee you quickly realise why people ask if its enough to get by on in Warsaw.

Truth be told if people asking a very understandable question before making a life changing commitment, on subreddit for foriegners irritates you… Then perhaps your spending time on the wrong subreddit.

None of these people are getting paid 20000zl packing boxes for in-post. If they have the skills or experience for that salary then it should seen as well deserved by anyones measure.

  10. What is this data based on? GUS? They only get data from people from private sector that hire 9+ people. It doesn’t include public office workers, hospital staff, military, small companies, self employed (this is like 2,5 million people)!

This is basically meaningless stat. 15 million people works on con tract of employment. 1 million works in small companies (few employees, not in the stars), over 3 millions of people has public jobs (not in the stats). 2.5 million self employed people don’t do this for 2501 and less.

Minimum wage is also over 3000 now.

  11. W sumie to mnie ciekawi czemu nie zapostowałeś tego na r/Polska skoro i tak jesteś Polakiem?

  12. but it’s people who don’t wanna work anymore

  13. Low key hating on foreigners living here full time, probably because of their ignorance. I guess thats why we are xenophobic.

  14. I work with a girl (here in America) who just got back from some cookie-cutter vacation in a “safe” part of Mexico her parents paid for. She was telling me how glad she is to be an American because the average salary in Mexico is like $15,000 USD/yr or whatever.

She probably makes like $60,000 USD/yr. She has $50,000 in student loan debt and can only afford interest payments. She has the lowest tier of health insurance because she can’t afford anything else. Her rent is $1,400/month. He car payment and insurance another $700/month. She’s absolutely struggling to get by and in a combined $85,000 or so in debt, but man, does she ever love our high American wages.

Some people are oblivious that the cost of living can actually be different dependent on wages…

  15. This chart does not factor in how many people in the society can afford to live alone on their salary.

Poland is full of mutlihousehold arrangements precisely because people can’t sustain a family on one or even two incomes.

  16. Jestem ciekaw jak na dzień dzisiejszy się prezentuje ten wykres -faktycznie w 2018 zgodzę się z takim rozkładem.

  17. Albeit all this Poland is one of the best place to live in. People are really amazing here. 👏 salary does not matter if you have been treated well despite the dissimilarities.

  18. And how would you expect a foreigner to know that? And the cost of living.

A friend here in Poland told me that 5-6 years ago he did just fine as a young guy with 2000 zl but now you wouldn’t even pay a rent.

More than that? What would you expect people to earn when they move abroad? Less than ehat they earn at home? A bit more? A dude coming in another country just wants to not be scammed with the salary.

  19. TWENTY THOUSAND A MONTH!?
20 000 PLN a month is roughly an average of what I was earning YEARLY for the last 10 years living in Warsaw. Damn…

  20. Dude 20k a month is millionaire baller status in Poland it’s why I moved here from the states . I only have to work 15 hours a week and I make 5000 zl a month and another 10000zl on the crypto market

  21. Damn 2018, thats decades ago if I have to consider recent events we have witnessed. Not really affordable even at 15000 salary.

  22. I’d get by with 20k zł per month in any european country lol

  23. when minimal wage is 3400 the people who earn less are simply jobless or part timers or pensioners.

  24. Those post are from the same 25-29 year olds driving a expensive luxury car. They get by just like the biedronka cashier. Pay check to pay check…

  25. Zaskakująco lepiej niż mi się wydawało, co dużo i tak nie świadczy o sytuacji w kraju
