Would even higher energy prices change lifestyles?
>but have you checked your own personal carbo footprint instead of keeping us to rake in more profits?
-Oil companies
So not the people who are buying goods from the other side of the planet, not the people who buy clothes they don’t need and only wear once because this year’s trendy fashion is different than last years…
How do they think it is going to work? If you tax them, they would pass most of the tax on the customers. It’s similar with VAT. Companies collect the tax but ultimately, it is mostly paid by customers. It is generally a good idea, carbon tax the best climate fighting policy measure so, yeah, go for it.
But do not make surprised Pikachu face (and violent protests) when petrol prices, airline ticket prices, and everything else’s prices go up.
So oil companies rise the prices to cover the costs and because we use oil to make energy, the prices of everything go up…
So ungrateful. They do their business for us.
“lol” – respond Oil companies
Fuck off. ‘britons’. Sure I remember that poll. Wtf, you don’t speak for any all of us with your stupid limited polling. If you even asked anyone with a brain.
I always thought that. But we’ll pay either way, increase at the pump or via taxes.
Oil companies own politicians and governments. In the US we give the 4 billion dollars in cash subsidies every year. Just because.
Everybody always believes someone else should pay for something.
Aren’t most “oil companies” actually “energy companies” and actually invest in renewable projects themselves? (Because their not stupid and see the writing on the wall)
Impossible. Companies will just redistribute the cost to their customer or file bankruptcy. No company will exist over a longer period of time without earning money or at least the prospect of earning money.
I mean… you only buy it of you need it.
Why are you buying it?
We demonise a business that exists to provide us with a product that people go to protests for when the prices rise (and to when prices dont rise).
It’s so easy to say “just tax the rich duh…”, but reality is allways more complicated
I blame Nigel — wait, where the fuck did Nigel go???
Before we get a digital carbon footprint cap on our life’s maybe the major corporations that cover the ocean in oil or plastic should be the main culprit? I know they won’t as they get constant buy outs from the government in the first place as it’s a club of rich tadgers so what can you expect.
