Hope all of you are doing great. I am an American married to German Citizen. We are about to move to Germany for good.

The Citizenship law through marriage is a bit confusing and we hear contradicting responses from Lawyers, friends, Auslanderbehorde …

Some people say ” First you come, get your Aufenthaltstitel , then after 3 years you will apply for the Permanant residence and then after 3 years have passed from your Permanant residence grant you can apply nor naturalisation (In total after 6 years since Aufenthaltstitel has been granted)”

The other group say ” You can apply for naturalisation after three years from the moment that Aufenthaltstitel has been granted ,you are eligible to apply for both. The Permanant residense and/or Naturalisation (In total after 6 years since Aufenthaltstitel has been granted) ”

This link provides info but not complete clarity (Maybe somethings are lost in translation ) : [BMI – Homepage – Becoming a German citizen by naturalization (bund.de)](https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/faqs/EN/topics/migration/staatsang/Erwerb_der_deutschen_Staatsbuergerschaft_durch_Eingbuergerung_en.html)

Would truly appreciate your input.

Danke Schon
