Ben and Jerrys tubs have shrunk. The price however has gone up. As a fat and price conscious consumer, I am deeply angered by this. Think of the children!

  1. The Americans call it “shrinkflation” – on the plus side it means you have a valid excuse for buying a second tub.

  2. I strongly feel that sweets and shit are driving inflation. People are so stressed out and miserable that they think they deserve something as a reward for having to put up with all the bullshit they go through on a daily basis, and they are right. When you are thinking all day “I’m having a shit day, I’m going to eat a whole fucking tub of Ben & Jerry’s just because fuck it”, seeing that the size has gotten smaller and the price has gone up isn’t going to stop you. At that point you’ve committed to some sort of slow nihilistic death pact with the economy.

  3. When you are growing up they teach you to share.

Then they tell you that you don’t deserve ice cream because you didn’t get promoted.

  4. They were only worth €3 on sale to begin with. Now on sale they’re roughly €4.50. Not a chance am I paying that, let alone what they’re worth now! It’ll be Lidl’s finest for me.

  5. Heres a top tip for shopping: if a product changes the design or shape of its container they are 100% making it smaller without changing the price.

  6. Lidl, do a nice version of Ben and Jerry’s range. I was quite surprised how nice it was, especially Lidls version of caramel choo choo. I choo choo chose you!

  7. Would happily take Haagen-Dazs praline over ANY Ben and Jerry’s, I find B&J far too sweet, apart from maybe the cherry one as that’s tangy.

  8. I have noticed that trend with lots of products recently… However, for me there was a bit of a nice unintended consequence…. My sugar intake decreased which is helping me conquer my type 2 diabetes………yippee

  9. Everyone in this thread is missing something. This is the new Sundae range by B&J. The Sundae range features a layer of ‘whipped’ ice cream on top. As this whipped ice-cream is aerated, there are less millilitres of ice cream in it, despite it taking up the same volume in the tub.

So, although they both come in the same size tub, the Sundae range contains 427ml, while the original range still contains 465ml of ice cream.
