  1. He was certainly correct about Russia. Per his speech at the First International:

    >”In the first place the policy of Russia is changeless… Its methods, its tactics, its manoeuvres may change, but the polar star of its policy – world domination – is a fixed star.”

And then Russia tried his ideology on for size, and we all know how *that* turned out.

  2. He didn´ t even wanted to write his manifesto, only persuaded by Friedrich Engels (at least I saw in document years ago). Left big NOTE in history and which still continues, years later bloomed…only in perversion used by the strong or want to be strong AGAINTS the people. (Geroge Owell – Animal Farm)

  3. It’s funny. As a philosopher, Marx is one of the most important in history and certainly has a big influence on today’s world. But his ideology might have been one of the world’s biggest disasters.

And as proof? Look at all the whataboutisms in the comments on this sub.

  4. I’m pretty sure he was just sick of exploitation of workers. From an economy book I read, I gather that Marx was a brilliant economist, but not very open to “other” ideas, and his thinking was flawed in a few key points. Keep in mind that I have not yet read any of his works, or of many other economists, but I will do that in the future.

  5. I’ll tell you one thing in vain you drive on Marx. there is one reason he said that communism is possible only in already developed and industrial countries like Germany and Great Britain at the time when he came up with it all. but when it came to the practice of communism, they began to build undeveloped agrarian countries in which there really were no workers. Lenin directly said that communism cannot be built in Russia. and that we must become a raw material base for Germany. he then thought that the communists would also come to power in Germany.

  6. I wouldn’t paint him as the good guy but he does raise many important points from workers exploitation, workers rights and more. But what he envision is clearly based on the era he lives in. It is outdated and yet people still continue to worship his ideal which clearly reflects upon the era of Victoria which isn’t exactly the best place to live in.

  7. Was Marx wrong? yes, but was Marx right? Also yes. I would like to hate Marx for soviet union, but I also cannot hate Marx for influence on the Nordic model. It is truly a shame he was not named Karl Marx Schrödinger

  8. On one hand he saw people either being deported to Australia for trying to form A labor union or being downright massacrated.

It is understable why he fully went “destroy them all” in his theories

On the other hand, his solution was to simply create another dictatorship and hope It would have worked better.

No wonder the Soviets ended up being equal to the Empire they had overthrown.
