  1. Excellent choice to house these people on Cahirsiveen, thriving metropolis of 1041 people. Great place for war refugees to integrate into. You can’t make it up.

  2. They moved integrated families from Wicklow Town last year. Local people were so upset then too. Have heard other anecdotes about settled immigrants being moved after integrating with the local community. At best no one in charge gives a fuck, or they’re actively trying to make things worse.

  3. > In one case a family is being split up with some of the family moving and others not.

Imagine being forced to abandon your whole life and move to another country, to make the best of it by working, studying, sending your kids to the local school to make friends and have some sort of normal life… then told you’re being uprooted all over again to a completely different town at the whim of some pencil pusher – and not all your family are going either!

  4. No wonder integrating is hard and letting people integrate through building of trust is hard also it is not a good idea socially to isolate the integratees once again and desensitise the integrators to even more new faces around town. Beggars belief that this is the best option. but as long as they don’t move them into dublin where the violent innercity purebreds dwell. I suppose they could be doing worse

  5. If we keep moving people, we can’t very well go on and complain about them not having jobs, and living off the state. These poor people have got jobs in this town. Now they’re being torn away from them.

  6. People here saying that hotel owners get more money for “regular” refugees than Ukrainians. Please provide evidence. If this is true it’s open racism against Ukrainians.
