RT correspondent And Irishman Chay Bowes pushing the Kremlin line on Finbar Cafferkey.

  1. I read Bowes’ “article” (and I’m using the term very generously) where he claimed the US engaged in a coup in Ukraine and started a proxy war against Russia. It was about level with a stereotypical Journal comment in terms of research and quality.

(I’ve a PhD in international law and have had articles published on the area in academic journals, including on the Ukraine conflict)

  2. >”When I learnt that the Islamic State was being facilitated financially and militarily by the Turkish state in its attacks on the Kurds in Syria and Iraq, I realised this was only made possible by the connivance of its NATO allies in the EU, who turn a blind eye in return for Turkey stopping Syrian refugees reaching Europe.

    >As an EU citizen, this made me complicit in the horrors perpetrated by the Islamic State in the territory it controls, and I wasn’t happy about that. When I researched the efforts being made in Rojava to combat sectarianism and misogyny and promote a form of democracy with a far greater depth than we know in Europe, I saw that the fight here was not just about the current emergency situation.

    >After that, it was just a matter of deciding how I could help. I thought for a long time about that.”

    – Finbar Cafferkey

Sounds like Cafferkey being far from a NATO stooge, and more like a situation where a leftist idealist and NATO can all agree that Russia is the needless aggressor.

  3. I met Bowes a few times about 20 years ago when he was involved with a medical services company. Very shady back then.

  4. Ironically if Michael Martin had said Village Magazine (and **not** the Ditch) were political campaigners he would actually have been onto something.

  5. Not this gobshite, he was spreading that “Ireland is full” shite all over Twitter. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one who started it.

  6. TheDitch, as mad as they are and as insufferable as Paddy Cosgrave is, are on to a good thing and doing some good journalism. They should cut ties, if possible, with this guy. I’d love to see them continue putting the fear of God in politicians but this dude should be nowhere near the operation if he’s pro-Russia.
