The Romanian Orthodox Church has people who infiltrated parties to get what it wanted.
In this particular case, a politician admitted (without knowing he was recorded on a hidden camera) he was sent by the Patriarch to join the Social-Democrats. He eventually became a member of the local council in Bucharest, where he acted as the church’s main lobbyist to get funds from the city hall. Sometimes, parts of these funds were sent back as kickbacks to other politicians, by using their construction companies (at higher-than-market prices).
After this report, he resigned from the local council and the Social Democratic Party.

who would have thought that in a country which is one of the EU’s poorest and yet new monasteries and churches rise up daily, and its capital is getting a new, tacky, oversized, 135m high cathedral something might be amiss there
The attack against these investigative journalists is now in full swing in Romania. Politicians from the two most important parties (Soc-Dems and National-Liberal – which are involved in these shady stuff with the Church) and most TV news channels are foaming at the mouth and call this **”an attack against Romanian people’s faith”** and other craps like that.
The investigation manage to make 1 million views on YT in less than 24 hours.

so just like with the kiddy fiddling, this won’t be limited to 1 country. the whole organization is going to be rife with it. and since Christians didn’t have a problem with the kiddy fiddling they certainly won’t have a problem with this.

Sooo, here’s the thing… any country in EU wants to lend us some of their more young politicians for 4-8 years so we can finally make an actual government with them and start rebuilding? Its great training, should go well with the cv and it will be millions of times better than the functional illiterate tobacco smugglers we have in government today and just cant vote out….
Glad the news made it to the european level. The journalists from “Recorder” that made this investigation are just incredible, they have a lot of material on other stuff like the ilegal cuttin of trees.
