Remember call cards?

  1. Look at Fancy Pants here with their call cards!

It was reverse call charges for me when I was in school 😂

  2. Jayzus I used to collect them back in the day(it was a thing at national school) Had loads of different ones and would trade them if I’d more than 4 of them any one them. The most common one was the niamh from tir na nóg card

  3. Remember them? I have a folder full of them. Spent about two grand on them as a 13 yr old. Worth bloody nothing now.

  4. Still have all mine unopened in a book waiting for them to be worth something if I sell them now I would probably get 50 euro 😭

  5. When you’d find one in the phone box with a couple of units left on it it was like winning the lottery.

Not like we’d anyone to be calling anyway. We used to ring any freephone numbers we could find and try to have the chats with them. Rosemary in Coca-Cola, I’m really sorry.

  6. I remembered been told of limited edition slof the kitcat, only to find that every one had one. Still have my collection somewhere

  7. They’re quite serious collectors items, many are only worth less than the money that was on them in when in mint condition but a few of the older rarer ones fetch into the double or even triple figures. When I volunteered in a charity shop there was a full basket of hundreds of them and we wondered who would be interested in something like these (you know how how Charity Shops are, they sell whatever junk comes in the door). Then one guy came in one day and purchased it for €15. I’d say he went on to make a healthy profit. I imagine they originally belonged to some guy who died who spend years building up a collection only for his family to dump it in the nearest place they could find.
