We got a ticket from driving up the mountain in Kanyon Uri. How can we pay the fine?

  1. Hello, we were traveling to Unterschächen to see the waterfall. Sadly, we didn’t know we couldn’t drive there. I know it’s not an excuse but we saw some cars driving up so we thought it would be fine. However, the police came and placed this ticket on our car. We tried to pay by scanning the QR code attached but we were linked to a website page of Kanton Uri and couldn’t pay the fine. We are leaving Switzerland today and we don’t have a Swiss bank number so we are wondering what we could do about it.

PS. On the ticket there’s a iBAN number and OB NR, can we pay with that by using a German bank account?

  2. there is options to avoid the bill with a little bit of work but you are not asking for that.

first you can ask your rental, if you can just pay them 100.–. for security reasons tell them to charge your creditcard. (so they cant say afterwards you just left. safe is safe) when they want to charge you extra, search post in the airport. ask the peopel there they will guide you. its often marked with a big yellow P. when you show them the letter they will know what to do.

  3. A lot of the time these fines are absorbed by rental company, we have had this 5-6 times over the years. Sometime they bill you, sometimes
    not.

  4. You can pay from pretty much everywhere. Just make a deposit to that account. If you let the rental company handle it, it will be really expensive…

  5. A) You can pay from Germany using the IBAN and adding the Ticket-Number to the communication field.

    B) If you pay within 30 days, the rental company will not get any hint/info about the ticket at all.
