  1. Currently i work with many romanians and we understand each other without language. We have same mindset, but different languages.

  2. Better infrastructure thelan us which annoys me lol. Amazing for tourism with very beautiful mountains, an insane amount of monasteries, castles, salt mines, charming villages and cities.

Your food and culture is similar to Bulgaria’s. Some old words and town names show you rubbed of from the slavic tribes. Your renaissance to stop using cyrilic and invent the national idea of being a latin country seems to be entirely romantic fantasy.

  3. Our best neighbour. We had some beefs in the past because of Dobruja but that dispute was solved 80 years ago so we are cool now.

  4. My great great grandaddy is a Bulgarian from Kustendja present day Constanta. Aside from Dobrudja (Russia’s fault) and the backstabbing during the second Balkan war, Romania is the best neighbour with a massive difference to the second best.

I love Sinaia and the Carpathian mountains. There are so many other places I have on my list to visit.

  5. I work for a company that has its local HQ in Romania – I like the Romanian colleagues. Bucharest also looks like a really nice and interesting city, terrible traffic though – like everyone is a road-bully there.

  6. I have worked with Romanians. Fantastic people, can’t say anything for the country though, haven’t been there.

  7. One of my best friends is a Romanian! I have spent a lot of time there and I can confidently say that while we differ in our languages, we don’t in mindset.

  8. Good people and great neighbors.

And I’m not just saying that since I’m part Romanian (my dad’s part of the family is just across the Danube from Romania). 😂

  9. Great music! Love sunwaves festival. Many amazing artists like Priku, Subit, Mihai Popoviciou etc. would love to visit

  10. I think Romania is unequivocally the most positively viewed neighbouring country by the Bulgarian people.

We share a lot of similarities in music and culture, and we (almost) didn’t have any serious historical beef between us, unlike how it is with Serbia, Greece (although they are still highly regarded), Turkey and Macedonia.

Also a lot of Bulgarians actually admire Romania for the socio-economic progress that it has made since joining the EU, which is often contrasted with our (or lack thereof) own progress, accompanied with the phrase “Even if we started running towards them, we will never be able to catch up with the Romanians”.

So yeah, pretty good even for Balkan standards.

  11. I worked as a bellboy one summer in a big hotel in Sunny beach years ago. From all the nations that came this summer, only Romania had 100% tip rate and big ones too. Great people!

  12. From what I know and what I’ve seen on the internet, Romania is so similar to Bulgaria that it’s a crime our two peoples generally don’t know each other’s countries more (particularly Bulgarians regarding Romania 😅). Those Bulgarians you see here on Reddit posting all love about Romania are mostly young and global-minded, but a great part of our population isn’t, and among them, ignorance and, occasionally, dislike for Romania prevails (based on historical grudges) – it wouldn’t be fair not to mention this sad fact. It’s great that the Dobroudja issue was solved in 1940 and doesn’t create strain anymore.

To do my part in turning the tide, I am planning my first trip to Romania this summer 😊

  13. I envy them. They have the balls to put corrupt politicians in jail and the results are obvious. Microsoft and many others choose them over us for a reason.

  14. Came back from Romania a few days ago. During my whole stay there I felt like I was not in the Balkans (in a good way). Very rich history, delicious food, great accommodation and affordable prices. Amazing!
