Remember, everyone needs to get used to being poorer. Can’t let anything get in the way of corporate profits.
If you don’t like shell making huge profits, stop buying their products.

Obviously more to this article then the headline but with how much scalping going on not sure how it’s unexpected
Maybe they didn’t expect us to just bend over and take it?
I’m paying close to £300 a fucking month, what do they mean stronger than expected profits, this is exactly what they fucking expected the robbing cunts.
How on earth are we supposed to fight and challenge this? Normally if I don’t like a company I don’t buy their products or use their services but that’s not really an option here. We can’t even switch to a better supplier.
Fucking hate Shell and am not with them through choice. I feel like the big oil companies put the smaller energy firms out of business to corner the market and make obscene profits. We’re being robbed.
Great news for shareholders and those on the executive board, however you know the average Shell employee is going to be struggling with rising fuel costs like the rest of us. There will never be a windfall tax under the Tories, Shell won’t pass these profits onto us, cost of fuel won’t come down, nor will those profits be invested into renewables. It is capitalism at its finest.
I heard someone on the radio trying to explain that the high level of profits were due to high oil prices and that they would fall again in the coming months with the oil price. That’s really not how profit works.
In February, Shell reported profits of $39.9bn for 2022, double the previous year’s total and the highest in its 115-year history.
“Esteemed board members, it turns out if we double everyone’s price plan, we make TWICE as much money. Shocking I know, but i’ve recently been looking into something called maths. So bear with me, what if we tried charging them three time as much and see what happens?!”
Ah brill, good for them, honestly I was worried about Shell, it’s really heartwarming to see a true underdog make it. Can I have cheaper bills now then? No one needs that much money- right?
You have the opportunity to vote today in local elections for something better. I would suggest you do so.
Instead of us all whining day after day on this sub, go out and make a difference!
I’m sure some “economically literate” type will be along soon to wade in and tell us why this is great, and the sign of a thriving economy, and why we should be happy that they’re making so much money and we’re all fucking skint because *this is what the market wants*.
All praise the markets. May their benevolent wisdom continue to guide us all towards a bright and hopeful future.
I have lost track of how many kids I have seen in this forum complain about the actions of Boomers. And yet here we are allowing corporate greed push up the country’s deficit for future generations to sort out. It is not the public who have allowed this, it is the underhanded agenda of a corrupt government.
Make sure you do your bit today and vote if there are elections in your area.
They really need to increase their prices or they will likely have to make layoffs.
Can’t have a dent in that profit margin through operating costs or it’s just not viable
Edit: /S
Hold up, Shell is real? I always thought they were a fictional corporation from LEGO lore like Octan.
I don’t know a single person that would say they didn’t expect this…
So basically the oil companies are running a cartel to price fix, and not a single MP is raising it.
Super pleased for them. We all are. Seriously, well done.
Absolutely disgraceful where as hard working families are clearly being robbed blindly and overpriced unfairly. as a family husband i have literally zero disposable income once all my bills go out. Some nights i dont eat at all and i never go out anymore. country has gone to shit and we let them do this.
I’ve been giving them £480 a month since November!!!!! It only cost £1300 for the entire heating and electric for 2021.
And yet it’s, * checks notes *, paying nurses what they’re worth which is going to bake in inflation.
Folks I tell you. If you want to buy a company that cares for shareholders, that has a competitive edge in a very capital intensive market, this right here is the company to own.
They are one of the only big oil companies to report an increase in revenue and this shows Shell is increasing investments into profit generating operations. To start, adjusted EBITDA was $21.4B and increase of 10% Year over Year! This is massive as other big oil such as Exxon, and Chevron are reporting losses in EBITDA.
Revenue increased to $86.95B (a 3.3% increase) cashflow from operations was $14.2B for 1Q 2023, taxes were also $3.1B and net working capital outflow was only $800M.
This company is a cash generation machine. She’ll knows how to put into good use that will generate future cashflow for shareholders.
They also declared a dividend of $0.575, that’s 1% of market cap! LOVE SHELL! 💗
I’m pretty sure the huge profits were entirely expected, what with the way we’re all being shafted
Good for them, they must have cancelled corporate netflix and dropped the avocado toast from the breakfast meetings.
