*Everyone welcomed me with open arms and gave me praises for not being a cruise-tourist.*
Joking, but for real, this is the 100000th ‘had an amazing travel journey here’ post by some foreigner, I know. But this was my last big roadtrip with this car before I sell it again, and I couldn’t have picked a better destination. Drove from The Netherlands, through Denmark and (the inferior country of) Sweden to Oslo, Lillehammer, Trondheim, Ålesund, Bergen and Flekkefjord. Every single location would’ve been worth staying for a week, honestly.
The people were lovely, the drive was gorgeous and the beer very, very expensive. (Shout-out to the Norwegian cop who did my alcohol test at the checkpoint in Trondheim, as if I could afford to get too drunk to drive in your amazing country.)
In return, I want to offer some The Netherlands travel advice for y’all: Skip Amsterdam. Visit Rotterdam and Utrecht instead if you want to visit a large Dutch city. Amsterdam just gets flooded with our equivelent of cruise tourists and annoying English people. Cheers!
The shame you bring on our people by not mentioning Denmark as an inferiour country as you did with Sweden and doing your trip in a Swedish car brings shame on your post

Glad you had fun.
Next time do it during summer. You will love it even more.
Solo travelling is a vibe. Must be nice.
You have blessed my eyes with these photos. May I use one of them as profile banner?
did you rent your vehicle? Thinking about doing this myself but so much to think about
Is that a 240 series? It looks to be. Impeccable taste if so.
As a Dutch person living in Norway I can only agree! It’s such a fantastic country in every way. Next time go to lofoten, by far the most insane nature imaginable! I’ve traveled a lot around the world, but that’s still my favourite
As for the NL travel advice, I’d say Utrecht, Gouda/Alkmaar, Haarlem, Groningen.. basically any old city that’s not Amsterdam. For modern architecture (like barcode in oslo) you can go to Rotterdam
You visited Norway in a Swedish tank? That’s brave.
Hi fellow Dutchy. Just writing in English for any other people who may be interested in my experience.
I stayed in Bergen for nearly 4 months doing an internship. In the weekends I’d drive my own, old, personal car for beautiful drives as well. Norway is just breathtaking. During my route back I stopped at Jostedalsbreen, which is really worth visiting. Then I went to Lillehammer, Oslo and Kopenhagen.
I realized all of these cities are just boring when you are used to the beautiful nature you drive and hike through.
Thanks Norway for the awesome experience!
Hello ! This is Morad. We met in Trondheim. This is so cool to see your post here on Reddit. Norway is indeed an amazing country with a very interesting population and society. This is why I want to live here. You are welcome to stay at my place if you decide to visit Lille where I live currently.
Hey I’m super glad you got to visit our country and liked being here, always love to see that (especially when it’s by car and not a cruise ship haha)! I cannot imagine how different and just… unusual it has to be to travel from a very flat country like the Netherlands (not saying it’s a bad thing btw, your country looks wonderful as well!) to an extremely mountainous and rough country like Norway tho 😂😅
You even got some nice weather while you were here. Lucky you.
Sounds amazing!! Beautiful photos as well. Do you have a bit more detailed route you could share with us?
I would like to do it as well, but have a real hard time figuring out what places to visit.
Solo traveling in a tank – damn! I’m impressed! Love that you enjoyed yourself :).

Did you sleep in your car? How was the setup?
