It should be more worrying to him that a small media organisation has uncovered so much corruption in a short space of time.
I don’t think anyone would describe RTE or the other media organisations in Ireland as independent there are a lot of sacred cows that they refuse to touch.

I’m no fan of Paddy Cosgrove but its not as if he tasked the Ditch with inventing a load of news stories, if they were spouting lies they would be sued.
As far as I’m concerned the Ditch is a specific purpose vehicle built to further the grievances of Paddy Cosgrave and has as it’s core agenda an intent to take down the Government. If something is being used as a political tool, it becomes fair political game.
I’m all for exposing corruption and I’m very much in favour of seeing politicians kept to a higher standard of integrity but what has gone on this week is hugely damaging to the Democratic norms in Ireland.
Where were the NUJ when the Ditch and it’s financers / founders launched a week long campaign against the wider media in this country implying bias?
Where was the NUJ when a founding member of the Ditch left to take up a role as a Russian state propagandist?
Where was the NUJ when a senator ‘just asking questions’ implied that the countries media were in cahoots with the Government?
I’ll be downvoted, dismissed as a shill, called an FFG bot – but it’s extremely concerning that this non issue has been manufactured into a scandal, has been used to undermine the wider media in Ireland, and having made it’s way into the Dail on foot of an ongoing campaign by an opponent of the Government, we now have a situation where responding to that campaign in the Dail is seen as an attack on the media, after a week where the media has been under attack by the same campaign.
I’m just astonished. I don’t understand how people are so blinded that they can’t see through this. Last time I saw this kind of manipulation was back home the two years before Brexit.
What odds would you give it that there’s a tome of stories being held back till closer to election time?
The Ditch must have a plan to stick around till then surely!?
