  1. I had not steered a car for a long while, when last friday, I had to drive for a few hours. I saw a lot of ukrainian cars, which really drove home the point that all those people were forced to leave their home because of the war.

It’s not like I had not paid attention, I had; but there is a difference between seeing something on TV / Youtube and having some of the wars’ ripple effects at hand instead of twothousand kilometres away.

  2. So for France, minors aren’t counted. So let’s say that, on average, for each adult there might be 1.5 children fleeing. Might be a bit too high, but rather estimate to high than to low. So in total we’d have to take Frances number times 2.5, which leaves them at about… 169362.5.

Yeah, no offense France, but that feels like an order of magnitude lower than what you could do to help?

  3. Top countries per capita:

    – Czechia – 31 per 1000
    – Estonia – 27
    – Poland – 26
    – Lithuania – 24
    – Bulgaria – 24

  4. I’m not surprised France is so low. If I were fleeing a warzone and had a pick of 27 countries, I’d choose a country that is outspoken about providing support and encouraging me to come to find shelter. I don’t think France has done a particularly good job at that. I mean, my home and everything I knew are probably destroyed, I don’t want to go somewhere where I am possibly unwelcome.

Also, Macron trying to “level” with Ruzzia’s pals wouldn’t sit right with me, and neither would alienating the US which has supported Ukraine a lot. You don’t negotiate with terrorists.

  5. They cross many peaceful countries bordering Ukraine. Why not stop and settle there instead of going all the way to Spain or Norway?

  6. Why does there generally seem to be a huge difference between France and Germany when it comes to such stats? I have generally considered the two as relatively on par(Germany has the edge economically, France militarily). I mean France taking up like 70% of Germany’s number would be fine but 11%?
