Another Sunday, another Sunday Times article stoking the culture wars on trans people. Got to keep Rupert happy.

She said, in a major newspaper. But nobody dares to question it though, no sirry Bob.
Given the internal contradictions of the transgender position that would still have to be worked out this can’t be much more than a very superficial summary.
Trans people exist, that doesn’t diminish what being a man or a woman means, and kids should be taught they exist, to respect them and to respect themselves.
Hating on trans people being ‘suddenly’ unacceptable is the same as when there was a shift from being able to just be openly racist, openly homophobic, openly misogynistic in law…
Paradigms shift, what becomes unacceptable changes. And railing against a small portion of the population who are just looking for a little damn respect, access to healthcare and to live without fear* just makes you a cunt tbh.
‘Woke mobs’ are amorphous groups with no leadership to guide them. Trolls love just being choas gremlins with no thought to consequences, and that’s an education failing too.
But if trans people are begging you to stfu for a minute and listen because you’re being harmful, maybe it’s time to actually listen to them.
Anyway, I’ve to go visit two graves in my semi closeted non-binaryness and I don’t have the energy to reply to people today. So yell at me all you want here, I’m turning reply views off though.
> Being seen to express the “wrong” view here, or using an incorrect term, could get you cancelled in a minute.
This isn’t actually true. People have to go out of their way to be hostile toward transgender people before they actually get cancelled. People don’t get ostracized from society because the accidentally say the wrong pronoun.
“Have pity on the teachers of Ireland, soon to find themselves in the firing line in the transgender wars with curriculum changes coming their way.”
Having attended multiple SPHE inservice training sessions every year for the past 10 years I can assure you that gender issues aren’t going to be entirely new to any teacher worth their salt. Senior Cycle SPHE has had a “Gender Studies” module for years, Stand Up Week, which is celebrated across the country, has done a great job in explaining terminology in a simple way, and most teachers will have always aimed to be as inclusive as possible when teaching SPHE.
I know there are SPHE teachers out there who, against all kinds of policies and good practice, don’t touch RSE with a barge pole, and I can absolutely see them ignoring this issue in the same way they ignore contraception and consent, and unfortunately until there is more oversight of SPHE as a subject they will continue to get away with it. But I don’t think anybody has to “have pity” on a teacher who is perfectly competent in explaining how “some people may feel like this and sure isn’t that grand for them?”.
I feel like lately the media has talked about nothing else but that.
There’s no such thing as biology bigot, its a far right conspiracy theory and dangerous.
Oh boy.here we go again
The bare minimum of letting children know that trans people exist and the media outlets go into perl clutching overdrive.
Mandatory religious education for children where they teach that homosexually is a sin, that’s grand though.
Knew it was TradHelp posting the second I saw the post, you are ridiculously obsessed with trans people and stirring the shit.
Says woman putting her hand up in a national newspaper. Bog off.
More segregation from an English publication, should I be surprised??
