‘Pattern of behaviour’ emerging about interests of Rishi Sunak’s wife, says Sir Keir Starmer

  1. Labour had better be pretty damn sure that all of their leadership team is squeaky clean in this regard. Because the media will care a hell of a lot more if one of them is doing anything even vaguely similar.

  2. Billionaire has lots of investments shocker. Cherry Blair took a lot of nasty shit, I hope we’re not going down that path again.

  3. The business interests of Mrs Sunak are many and varied, so there’s hardly a law or regulation that doesn’t affect something in which she has an investment. Would Labour prefer that she instead made her investments in India?

  4. Politicians voting for there own personal interest, in other news water is wet.
Tory labour they’re all the same look at ex labour leaders and Tory leaders and see how much more money they’ve made since holding office

  5. Yeah enough about this guy and his non-dom wife Starmer. Can you start talking about your taxation policies and what we can expect, for example will you abolish IR35? Will you remove green tax in fuel? Will you reduce VAT? Will you reduce top rate? Give us something people will excited man.

  6. Its well past time for the Aussie who seems intent on running the world get a kicking and the papers ownership broken apart.

  7. Such a weird thread. A lot of top comments like “yeah it’s fine what do you expect they always do this” Tories going down the voter apathy route?

This isn’t OK. He’s persistently making decisions than benefit his personal wealth, when he’s already one of the richest men in the country (through his wife) what is going on?

  8. Far be it from me to defend Rishi Sunak, or his wife, but why is he expected to be answerable for his wife’s financial affairs?
    It’s the 21st century, not the 19th.

  9. Having links to government and positions of power should limit your ability to benefit from the same industry and not increase your chances of riches.

Example: the moment he became chancellor/ PM none of his, hers of their family business should be allowed to conduct business with government.

This would limit other interest in maybe promoting him to a position of power for their own benefit, and ensure that the candidate truly has an interest in leading/helping the country and its people and not power.

  10. It does increasingly seem that wherever there’s a loophole in the tax code Akshata Murthy is there, ready to drive a Bentley through it.

  11. Like the “attack” adverts, making dark comments like this do not help the Labour party.

Saying things like this is why Tucker Carlson had a huge following – except he was batting for the right. Whether it is the right or left doing it, it is not appropriate.

All companies seek government grants and it is virtually impossible to have shares in one which doesn’t
