No clue. It says “orthodox” and for about 400 years that was pretty much a byword for “kill them all before supper”, due to them being either Russians or *somehow* corrupted by them.
At some point *certain somebody* (looking at you, Sweden) decided not to interfere and the karelians basically waltzed all the way to the bothnics. Incidentally, this is the closest the Russians ever got infecting us, and after some time, they, for the most part, got assimilated to the real sveco-finnic population, but let’s be honest here, few hundred years of Novgorod and Moscow bootlicking is still showing; those areas are a rather annoying burden on the economy even today.
