The powers that be are afraid that it won’t take long for a true AI to realise capitalism doesn’t work and instigate an alternative.
Seems like they are procrastinating. Why there is no review into things like Amazon where you can buy Chinese products that are unsafe and don’t meet UK standards?
If British company wants to bring something to the market, they need to ensure the product meets any regulations which is very expensive. Chinese on the other hand can just drop their crap onto Amazon store and reap profits.
Why is the competition regulator looking at AI?
There’s a new AI company every 30 minutes right now and no shortage of money getting thrown at these new companies.
Honestly if you are keeping up with AI the last 4 months has been insane, weekly news updates are nuts and even in the field you can’t keep up with all the new launches without the aid of several newsletters and summaries each week.
It’s probably the most competitive field of business on the planet right now.
Would be great if CMA concentrated on full ground rent review for existing leaseholds first (including RPI rents)
They blocked Microsoft’s attempt to buy ABK on ‘what’s ifs’ and put more doubts within the tech-sector about investing into the UK. ARM have already said ‘no thanks’ regarding listing on the London Stock Market, they’re listing in the US instead.
So yeah, par for the course for the CMA to ‘review’ AI. Wouldn’t want the UK to become too productive now, would we?
