  2. Isn’t that just basic army rations? I remember being surprised by how common spam was in Hawaii. It turned out army rations was the first regular exposure to western diet that the native Hawaiians had and the habit stuck.

  3. Spam is now an integral part of Polynesian and Pacific Island cooking.
    I’ve been to quite a few Polynesian restaurants ( high end 4+ star ) that have Spam as the core ingredient in their recipes.
